Fort Lauderdale Strikers - Internships

The Strikers are currently accepting applications internships.

The internships will allow students the opportunity to gain valuable work experience within a professional soccer organization.  This internship is unpaid but available to receive college credit, if applicable.  

One-year interns preferred.

Must be available to work a few nights and weekends at Strikers events and must be able to work all home games.

Available to work 20-30 hours per week preferred.

 

Marketing Intern 

The marketing department is responsible for all brand building efforts. This entails developing key fan insights and translating insights into breakthrough fan engagement efforts. These efforts may be through traditional media, new media, events, partnerships, etc. The marketing intern will gain valuable training from the Commercial Director and Marketing Manager and members of his marketing team on how to most effectively build a brand and how to effectively research a specific business challenge, develop winning strategies to address the business challenge, and qualify the proposed solutions with Strikers Fans.

The Marketing Intern will be expected to:

  • Coordinate marketing departmental budgets; submit and track purchase orders; and follow through to delivery upon receipt of purchases
  • Assist in the interdepartmental implementation of marketing strategies, promotions and campaigns
  • Coordinate delivery of advertising collateral to media partners
  • Understand and utilize web-based analytics tools for regular production and analysis of performance marketing program reports
  • Aid in the development of reporting requirements to determine ROI and overall effectiveness of campaigns
  • Liaison with Marketing Managers and Partner Activation Intern to fulfill contracts and create value for team partners and sponsor through marketing initiatives
  • Coordinate market plan development
  • Assist in the management of databases and email campaigns
  • Learn and utilize the techniques used for project management for creative (graphics) and brand initiatives (i.e. social, digital, mobile)
  • All other duties as assigned

 The ideal candidate should have:

  • Passion for Marketing
  • The ability to receive academic credit for the internship
  • Current enrollment in an accredited College or University preferably obtaining a degree in Sports Management, Marketing or a related field
  • The ability to work long and flexible hours during the work week and Striker events
  • Proficiency in MS Office products (Word, Excel, Power Point and Outlook)
  • An outgoing personality and a professional demeanor

Sponsorship Operations Spring Intern 

The Sponsorship Operations Intern will gain experience by supporting the sponsorship department with the day-to-day operations in the areas of sales, operations, customer service and suites service. The intern will receive practical training in these areas and will also gain experience in event planning and account maintenance.

The Sponsorship Intern will be expected to:

  • Assist with servicing all levels of sponsorship account holders.
  • Understand the payment system and assist with processing payments and requests.
  • Maintain records and files.
  • Learn the techniques used in prospecting and acquiring new customers through both inside and outside sponsorship sales.
  • Serve as a liaison between sponsorship and other internal departments.
  • Respond to inbound and in-person customer service inquiries in a courteous and efficient manner.
  • Assist with the coordinating fulfillment and distribution of all mailings.
  • Provide event and game day assistance to sponsors to include extensive problem resolution, coordination of sponsorship events/programs.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Sales and Ticketing Operations Spring Intern

The Sales &Ticket Operations Intern will gain experience by supporting the ticketing department with the day-to-day operations in the areas of ticket sales, ticket operations, customer service and luxury suites service. The intern will receive practical training in these areas and will also gain experience in event planning and account maintenance.

The Sales and Ticket Operations Intern will be expected to:

  • Assist with servicing all levels of ticket account holders.
  • Understand the payment system and assist with processing payments and requests.
  • Maintain records and files.
  • Learn the techniques used in prospecting and acquiring new customers through both inside and outside sales.
  • Serve as a liaison between ticketing and other internal departments.
  • Handle departmental shipping and distribution of packages/parcels.
  • Respond to inbound and in-person customer service inquiries in a courteous and efficient manner.
  • Assist with the coordinating fulfillment and distribution of all mailings.
  • Provide event and game day assistance to ticket holders to include extensive problem resolution, ticket/seat upgrade processing and coordination of Will Call orders.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Event Day Data Collector

DEPARTMENT: Marketing department

REPORTS TO: Marketing Director

SUMMARY: Assist the marketing and ticket sales department in collecting data during various brand activation events.

Essential Functions:

  • Assist the sales and marketing department in data collection in all brand activation events and home games
  • Conduct surveys related to attendance, consumer behavior and demographics
  • Other related duties

Essential Requirements:

  • Excellent communication skills
  • Ability to work Strikers home games
  • Bilingual a plus (Spanish)

Stadium/Events/Facilities Operations Intern

The Stadium Operations Intern will assist the Stadium Manager of Fort Lauderdale Stadium and the Director of Operations of the Fort Lauderdale Strikers in all aspects of facility management, focusing on event and daily operations.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist with stadium events, festivals, games
  • Actively search for new partnerships, festivals and events
  • Coordinate meetings with prospective clients
  • Assist with Fort Lauderdale Striker Player Operations
  • Purchasing materials relevant to the maintenance of the Stadium
  • Help staff prepare and maintain field for all games played at field

Candidate must posses strong communication skills, the ability to multi-task efficiently, very detail-oriented, and great organizational skills. A great work ethic, positive attitude, customer service skills, team player and self-motivation are keys to succeeding in professional sports. Interns will be asked to work outside their job descriptions, so the ability to work well with change and unexpectedness is important.

Video/Editing Intern

The Video/Editing Intern will assist the Public Relations Department of the Fort Lauderdale Strikers by:

  • Filming training, matches and events, as well as assisting in interviews
  • Create video content for strikers.com and social media accounts
  • Edit and compile game day footage for game highlights
  • Candidates are required to have editing experience
