Don't Fear The Keeper: Patterson Prepares for Tampa
G’day Miami Fans,
Wow! Three things have happened since my first blog. First, we won our first game under head coach Daryl Shore. We went to Baltimore with only one thing on our minds and that was scoring three points. The boys played extremely well and we got the three points that we deserved. Baby Shrives (Brian Shriver) took the opportunity to score a goal from a great ball passed by Euzebio Neto. The pass gave Shrives a chance to use his, uhhh… “arieal prowess” to loop the keeper and hand us the win.
Shriver’s goal wasn’t the only thing that was worth celebrating in Baltimore. We also had the privilege of celebrating two birthdays. Shriver also turned the big
2 3! Chris Gbhandi turned “the big 4 0”, or at least that is what the DJ announced at the restaurant. Obviously Gbhandi is not 40 years of age, but we managed to distract him while Marty Lancaster jokingly told the DJ it was his 40th birthday. It was an all round team effort, and well worth the laugh.
Finally, after a regeneration session on Thursday morning, it was off to the airport and back to Miami for a few hours of sleep. We had a productive training session Friday morning and then headed back to the airport for our trip to Puerto Rico. We arrived at Puerto Rico with an ambitious three points in mind. Unfortunately, we had to settle for one point. However, the score wasn’t too much of a disappointment for us, since Puerto Rico has proven to be a challenging game in the past. At the end, there was a sense of accomplishment for us.
Now, we prepare and confidently head into Saturday’s derby game with Tampa Bay. Tampa has proven to be a competitive rival, but we look forward to changing that with a spirited attitude this Saturday night. I have a few friends that play for Tampa and it’s always good to send a few pregame jibes here and there; especially during our weekly PlayStation 3 challenges. For those of you who wish to try their luck, my gamer tag is “ivalongdong”.
Twitter fans are also shown to be excited for Saturday’s game. Very notably are the Tampa Bay followers, known as “Ralphs Mob”, who enjoy sending me some very “friendly“tweets. We don’t sweat it though; we know it’s all in good sportsmanship fun! But we also know that our Ultras have our backs and are there to support us louder, harder, and stronger. Sorry “Ralph’s mob”, but our Ultras take the cake!
In my next blog I am hoping to get some questions from you, the fans. If there is anything you would like to know, just hit up my good friend Ignacio at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it . He will make sure to get all of your questions to me.
Don’t forget to come out to Lockhart stadium and rout for us at the game this Saturday, 7pm! We will forever be grateful for our fans, and we definitely need our fan’s support and energy to make our playoff push home against the Rowdies’.
See you there!
