Strikers will try to add to their two game win streak
FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. (August 29, 2013) – Fort Lauderdale Strikers (2-0-2, 6 points) look to continue the success found on the road as they face current NASL leaders Carolina Railhawks (3-1-0, 10 points) at historic Lockhart Stadium on Friday, August 30th at 7:30 p.m. The Railhawks are currently undefeated in the 2013 Fall Season.
“It's going to be a tough game for us,” said Strikers head coach Günter Kronsteiner. “I wish we had more time to prepare before we face the best team in the league. But our guys have been working hard and with the two wins we had on the road, their confidence has been increasing.”
The Strikers were able to get two consecutive victories on the road as they defeated the San Antonio Scorpions 2-1 in San Antonio on August 17th, followed by a win in Atlanta against the 2013 Spring Champions Silverbacks 1-0 last Saturday August 24.
Goalkeeper Richard Sanchez got the shutout against Atlanta, earning him the honors of NASL Player of the Week. Sanchez, who came over on loan from FC Dallas of MLS has been solid for the Strikers on goal this season. His teammate from FC Dallas, Bradlee Baladez who is also on loan for the season, was able to score on a header following a fantastic cross from Ivan Guerrero, netting the only goal in the win over Atlanta.
The Strikers are having a special promotion for the fans in attendance featuring $1 beers and live entertainment with local reggae band RYTHMadix from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.

Last Season vs Carolina Railhawks
The Strikers faced Carolina Railhawks on June 1st at Lockhart Stadium. Both sides finished with 10 men after Carlos Salazar and Kevin Rutkiewicz were sent off in the second half, and the game ended in a 1-1 tie on goals from Scott Gordon for the Strikers and Brian Shriver for Carolina.
In their first meeting of the Spring season, the Strikers lost to Carolina at Wake Med Soccer Park on April 20th. The Strikers led 1-0 on a goal from Jemal Johnson, but Carolina came back on penalty kick goals from Floyd Franks and Brian Shriver, who also scored a goal in the second half.
FTL went 0W-1T-1L against CAR in the 2013 Spring Championship

We showed ourselves and the league that we can compete against the best and hopefully contend for the soccer bowl.
This game against Carolina won’t get any easier. They’re a very disciplined and organized team with a great coaching staff. They have threats all over the place offensively, but I think if we stick to our game-plan and really come out, guns blazing that we’ll give them a run for the money. But Like I said, it won’t be easy, it will be a tough contest.
