FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. (Feb. 13, 2012) – The Fort Lauderdale Strikers have signed defender Scott Lorenz, 24, for the 2012 season. Terms of the contract were not disclosed.
Lorenz was last with Sporting Kansas City of MLS and played eight games for Minnesota Stars FC of the NASL while on loan during the 2011 season.
“Scott is an attacking player who we feel can play in defense and in the midfield,” said Strikers head coach Daryl Shore. “He’s a player who will create competition and has the experience to help us win a championship.”
Lorenz attended the University of Wisconsin where he finished his collegiate career with 14 goals in 71 games for the Badgers and was named to the All-Big Ten second team in 2008 and 2009. After leaving Wisconsin, Lorenz signed with Minnesota Stars FC for the 2010 season where he played in 19 games for the Stars.
Lorenz is from Barrington, Ill. and attended Barrington High School. He’ll wear uniform number three with the Strikers.
