FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. (Feb. 15, 2012) – The Fort Lauderdale Strikers have announced their 2012 preseason schedule and sponsored event calendar leading up to the regular season opening match on April 7.

Highlights of the preseason schedule include a trip to the Florida Youth Soccer Association’s complex in Auburndale, Fla. to face the Tampa Bay Rowdies and several local area colleges including FAU, Lynn University, Barry University, and Florida Gulf Coast University.

“We’re excited to be able to play against many of our local colleges and other good competition as we prepare for April 7^th against Edmonton,” said Strikers head coach Daryl Shore.

The Strikers will also face Old Dominion University, Canada’s U-23 Men’s Olympic team, and the Copa Latina All-Stars.

March 4^th, 5:00pm – Copa Latina All-stars (Ted Hendricks Stadium, Hialeah, FL)

March 7^th, 1:00pm – Old Dominion University (Strikers Training Facility)

March 18^th, 3:00pm – Canada U-23 Olympic team (Holiday Inn: Sawgrass)

March 21^st, 8:00pm – @FAU

March 24^th, 10:00am – Barry University (Strikers Training Facility)

March 31^st, 7:00pm – Tampa Bay Rowdies (Lake Myrtle Sports Complex)

Fort Lauderdale is also announcing their schedule of events for the preseason leading up to the home opener against FC Edmonton on April 7.

March 3^rd – “Meet the Strikers”. Location: Bokamper’s Sports Grill in Miramar. Time: 11:00am

March 10^th – Fort Lauderdale’s  St. Patrick Day Parade and Running of the Leprechauns presented by The Strikers. Location: Huizenga Plaza. 11:30 am – Sundown.

March 15^th – 2012 Uniform Unveiling presented by Joma and Duffy’s Sports Grill. Location: Duffy’s Ft. Lauderdale. 6:30pm.

March 23^rd – Strikers Downtown Fort Lauderdale Pub Crawl. Starting Location: Tarpon Bend. Time: 6:00pm

April 4^th – The Official ‘12 Fort Lauderdale Strikers Roster Introduction presented by Fritz and Franz Bierhaus. Location: Fritz and Franz in Fort Lauderdale. Time: 7:00pm. (By Invitation to Season Ticket Holders Only)
