Anderson Named to NASL Team of Week 9


Strikers midfielder Mark Anderson has been selected to the NASL Team of the Week for his performance in the Strikers' 2-2 draw in San Antonio on Saturday. It is the third time this season Anderson has been chosen, more than any other Strikers player in 2014.

The NASL Team of the Week is selected based on performances each weekend and features the best XI players in their respective positions.

Of course the selections are open to debate and fans are encouraged to have their say through social media at  and on Twitter @NASLOfficial

Here is this week’s Best XI:

Jimmy Maurer, New York Cosmos – Post a league-leading sixth shutout in the victory over Ottawa

Ayoze, New York Cosmos – Spaniard had an impressive defensive performance in the shutout win against Ottawa
Justin Davis, Minnesota United FC – Was key factor on the backline and scored Minnesota’s first goal
Lance Laing, FC Edmonton – Jamaican helped control defense and also provided a goal and an assist against Carolina.
Blake Wagner, Tampa Bay Rowdies – From the backline he had a tally and assisted on the tying goal for Tampa Bay

Mark Anderson, Fort Lauderdale Strikers – English native was solid in midfield and created chances for Fort Lauderdale
Josue Soto, San Antonio Scorpions – Provided an attacking spark and scored to give San Antonio the lead
Jaime Watson, Minnesota United FC – Had two assists for Minnesota, while controlling the midfield

Mike Ambersley, Indy Eleven – Had a two-goal game against Atlanta and is leveled atop of this season’s NASL goal scoring list
Jaime Chavez, Atlanta Silverbacks – Scored twice from the penalty spot and is also tied for first in league’s goal scoring leaders
Daryl Fordyce, FC Edmonton – Northern Ireland native earned his first NASL hat-trick in the victory against Carolina
