World Cup watch party to follow Marlins vs. A’s in Marlins Park West Plaza
Fort Lauderdale, FL (June 25, 2014) - The Fort Lauderdale Strikers are joining the Miami Marlins at Marlins Park this Sunday, June 29, to help celebrate the Marlins’ “Youth Soccer Day,” which includes a watch party for the 2014 FIFA World Cup in the Marlins Park West Plaza.
Fort Lauderdale Strikers players, staff and fans will be attending Sunday’s 1:10 p.m. Marlins vs. A’s game, where Strikers midfielder Mark Anderson will throw out the ceremonial first pitch before the game. Immediately following the Marlins game, the party will move outside to the Marlins Park West Plaza, where fans can watch the Costa Rica vs. Greece World Cup match alongside their favorite Strikers stars.
“We’re very happy to join forces with the Miami Marlins and to help promote youth soccer throughout the Tri-County area,” said Strikers President Tom Mulroy.
Both Marlins and Strikers players, as well as Billy the Marlin and HotShot, will be available for photographs and/or autographs throughout the day. The first 15,000 fans in attendance Sunday will receive a Marlins replica soccer jersey courtesy of Pepsi.
Furthermore, as a special Youth Soccer Day promotion, the Marlins are offering $20 Baseline Reserved seats which include participation in a pregame parade around the field, as well as the opportunity to run the bases after the game. A portion of the game’s proceeds will benefit local youth soccer.
