Strikers sign Brazilian attacker Jenison
The Fort Lauderdale Strikers today announced the signing of 23-year-old Brazilian attacker Jenison de Jesus Brito e Brito. Known simply as Jenison, his arrival marks the first new addition to the squad ahead of the 2014 Fall season.
“Jenison is a bright young man who can help us up top,” said Strikers Head Coach Günter Kronsteiner. “We’ve already been very impressed with his work in practice and we look forward to him scoring some goals for us this season.”
Jenison comes to the Strikers after years of experience in his native Brazil. He started his career with Paysandu Sport Club before signing with top-flight club Atlético Paranaense and more recently had stints with Atlético Hermann Aichinger and Série B side Bragantino.
The 6-foot tall, 174-pound native of São Bento will provide options to Coach Kronsteiner in midfielder or as a forward. Jenison has been described as a skillful, ambidextrous attacker with aerial ability and an eye for goal.
Four players have left the Strikers after the conclusion of the Spring season. As expected, German veterans Oka Nikolv and Marius Ebbers will not return to the club having seen out their contracts. The Strikers decided against picking up the option on Matt Hall's contract and agreed to Carlos Salazar's request to be released so he could return to Colombia.
