Fafa And Ivan named to Team of the Week

Fafa Picault and Ivan Guerrero were named to the NASL Team of the Week for week eight. This is the fourth selection for Picault and the third for Guerrero. Fafa scored the game winning gaol int he 43rd minute of the match against league leading San Antonio Scorpions, giving him his team-leading eighth goal of the year. Guerrero captained the side in a standout defensive display, neutralizing San Antonio’s dangerous attackers. This is the second time the two teammates were selected during the same week, the last one coming in week four of the Spring season.

The NASL Team of the Week is selected based on performances each weekend and features the best XI players in their respective positions.

Goalkeeper

Matt Pickens, Tampa Bay Rowdies – Earned his sixth NASL victory and second shutout of the year

 

Defenders

Ivan Guerrero, Fort Lauderdale Strikers – Honduran international was standout on defense and neutralized San Antonio’s attack

Lance Laing, FC Edmonton – Jamaican international was once again impressive on both sides of the field and scored the game-winner against Minnesota

Tamika Mkandawire, Tampa Bay Rowdies – Malawi native played significant role in conserving the shutout victory over Ottawa

Ryan Roushandel, Atlanta Silverbacks – Scored Atlanta’s second goal and was solid on backline

 

Midfielders

Junior Sandoval, Atlanta Silverbacks – Honduran was strong influence on the offense and scored the game-winner against Carolina

Darel Russell, Tampa Bay Rowdies – English native controlled the midfield attack and notched Tampa Bay’s second tally in the win over Ottawa

Jermaine Johnson, Indy Eleven – Jamaican international provided an attacking spark for Indy and scored the tying goal against New York

 

Forwards

Chad Burt, FC Edmonton – Scored Edmonton’s first goal in the victory over Minnesota

Fafà Picault, Fort Lauderdale Strikers – Haitian’s eighth goal of the NASL Campaign was the game-winner against San Antonio

Mads Stokkelien, New York Cosmos – Norwegian native notched second goal in as many weeks for New York
