Match Preview: Strikers at Edmonton
The Strikers travel north of the border looking to extend their five-match unbeaten streak Sunday against FC Edmonton. Fort Lauderdale has won all three matches against Canadian opposition this season, including away victories in Edmonton and Ottawa.
Historically, the Strikers have Edmonton's number in the series between the two sides. Fort Lauderdale has lost just twice in 14 total meetings, and only once in Edmonton, a 1-0 defeat on June 10, 2012.
A draw at the weekend against Atlanta Silverbacks at Lockhart extended the Strikers' unbeaten run to five matches. Fafà Picault's seventh goal of the year preserved the streak as the Strikers remain in close contention for a berth in 'The Championship' postseason competition. Fort Lauderdale will be without Darnell King (yellow card accumulation) and Walter Ramirez for the match as they serve suspensions, while several players are expected to miss the trip with injury.
Like the Strikers, FC Edmonton have found form in August, jumping to sixth in the Fall Standings after a string of results. The team is coming off of an impressive 3-2 win in Carolina last weekend, and a narrow loss in Minnesota has been the only blip in a month that has seen the Eddies earn a 2-1-1 record.

Coach Kronsteiner- “This is going to be a tough game for us. Edmonton has been playing better lately. And we’re going to be missing some players due to suspensions and injuries. We’ll have to see how the rest of the week goes in practice, but we’ll need some players to step in and help us get some points on the road.”
