Vice President of Communications

Job Description:

The ideal candidate is an experienced public relations professional with strong skills in planning events, liaising with media outlets, writing articles and press releases, and managing direct reports.  This position will oversee all external and internal communications and will be responsible for promoting and maintaining a positive, professional brand image for the Strikers in the South Florida community.  The ideal candidate will have excellent written and spoken English skills (preferable but not necessary if also fluent in Spanish and/or Portuguese).  The four main aspects of the job are website management, social media management, media relations, and day-of-game communications. 

 

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • At least 5 years of experience in public relations or closely related field
  • Ability to effectively manage and develop staff
  • Interact professionally with other employees, customers and vendors.
  • Work independently while understanding the necessity for communicating and coordinating work efforts with other employees and organizations.
  • Reliable transportation and a legal driver’s license as local travel will be required.
  • Proficient to advanced computer skills in Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, and Outlook and PowerPoint.
  • General knowledge of office skills, use of office equipment (copier, laser printers, fax machine, telephones, computers).
  • Strong personnel management, communication, time management and organizational skills.  Proven ability to multi-task and manage projects on strict deadlines.
  • Excellent written and verbal skills.  Proven ability to correctly use punctuation and grammar.
  • Possess high degree of discretion and professionalism.
  • Consistent, punctual and regular attendance.
  • Professional image and demeanor.
  • Strong ability to work well in a team environment.
  • Available to work during Strikers home games and other special events as needed, which may include weekends, holidays and evenings.
  • Able to work non-traditional hours in addition to the Strikers home game schedule.
  • Outstanding communication skills and a positive, energetic personality. 
  • Bilingual (English +) preferred but not mandatory.

Marketing and Promotions Manager

Job Description:

The ideal candidate for the position is a self-starter who will be able to enhance the brand awareness and maintain the quality of the outward-facing marketing efforts for the Strikers, including off-premise marketing activations and our promotional calendar. The position will be primarily responsible for identifying events, locales and strategic corporate partners where the Strikers’ promotional efforts will result in elevating the brand equity and increasing advocacy in the marketplace. The position would oversee our marketing assets including but not limited to the mascot, Striker Girls, experiential street team, etc. Additionally, this position will support management in negotiating and executing the Striker’s media campaign.

The secondary responsibility of this role would be as the "director" of game-day programming and fan experience—creating and executing the game-day experience, which ranges from pre and post-game entertainment, to half-time promotions, to anthem singers, special recognition for on field groups (i.e. military and first responders), PA Announcer, music, etc

 

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, marketing or communications required.
  • 1 year’s experience in one or more of the following: experiential activation, event marketing, and/or media buying.
  • Perform quality work within deadlines with or without direct supervision.
  • Interact professionally with other employees, customers and vendors.
  • Work effectively as a team contributor on all assignments.

Account Manager

Account Managers are responsible for leveraging these investments to maximize ticket and sponsorship revenue by building relationships within the community, speaking with potential sponsors and ticket buyers, and working creatively with other departments.  This position provides a valuable opportunity to be part of a monumental increase in attendance, revenue, and team awareness, pivotal accomplishments in any sports management career.  This position will report to the Chief Marketing Officer. 

Ideal Candidate

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, marketing or communications required.
  • 1 year’s experience in a consultative sales role that required prospecting, cold calling, professional networking, customer cultivation and customer service.
  • Perform quality work within deadlines with or without direct supervision.
  • Interact professionally with other employees, customers and vendors.
  • Work effectively as a team contributor on all assignments.
  • Reliable transportation and a legal driver’s license as local travel will be required.
  • Proficient to advanced computer skills in Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, and Outlook and PowerPoint.

Internships

The Strikers are currently accepting applications for internships for the Spring, Summer and Fall of 2015.

The internships will allow students the opportunity to gain valuable work experience within a professional soccer organization. Internships are unpaid, and applicants must be available for all Strikers home games during their internship.
